Eclectic Modern Beach House: a Fantastic Example of Mix and Match Home Decorating

This eclectic modern 6,000 sf beach house has the coolest chandeliers and the most awesome decor. Located in Malibu Colony, it is almost startling in its boldness. But it all works. We can’t stop looking at the pictures. The oceanfront home has outdoor decks and entertainment areas galore to take advantage of that priceless view out over the Pacific. And two mountain-view patios for variety. But it’s things like the light up island buffet and the purple and blue chandeliers that give this home character. Do you like TV? Good, because the media room has a 90″ model. Now, this is California living!

The beach is just outside the door. Interestingly, from the outside, this home looks very tame, albeit with killer views. But when you step inside the door – you realize this is anything but tame.

The realization actually begins as you arrive through the entrance courtyard. This is such an eclectic house but incredibly attractive at the same time.

The great room gets even greater with that fantastic light up island buffet. What a beautiful turquoise color.

The kitchen and great room are the real entertaining zones, the social hub of the interior.

The great room leads to an expansive ocean front deck.

The patio off the great room has a built in barbeque, and a vertical garden.

The purple and blue chandeliers make quite the statement. Note the two separate dining areas, one at either end.

The cook gets a bird’s eye view of the Pacific – what a fantastic layout. The island top looks super easy to clean, doesn’t it? In fact, the whole kitchen has that high-gloss, you-can’t-hurt-me look.

A big screen TV is available so if you have to see the game, you can still keep the cook company. Or maybe you’re having an Academy Awards party. It’s there if you need it.

Just beyond the kitchen island, another conversation area with tropical white couches. And vivid modern art paintings. The furniture is very white, you’ll notice. The eye is meant to go to the walls, to the fixtures, to the accoutrements.

The family room – nice large couch and a floor you could hold ballet classes on.

And there’s another TV – just in case you’re having that Oscar party (it’s actually not so far fetched, you’re in Malibu, after all).

The vivid art continues through the great room – it’s a mish-mash of styles – the wing back chairs with the contemporary beach house pillow. But it works.

Wouldn’t this make a lovely reading room? Look at all that view, a corner glass room.

Just off the reading room – another oceanfront patio.

There are patios with mountain views if the waves become redundant.

The master bedroom has a private patio with great patio furniture.

Done in dark colors, the master is decidedly a masculine room.

But not so the mater bath, with its blue chandelier sconces, Jacuzzi tub and heated toilet seat.

From the outside – to anyone going by in a boat – it’s a normal beach house.

This guest room has a pop of red and a pop of purple in an otherwise white world.

This one has a red pop, too – did you notice that they both have TVs?

This Murphy bed guestroom is set up like a train car with its little stainless sink in the corner!

This guest room, with the mountain view, has faux (we hope) crocodile wall paper.

From the outside, it looks like just another Malibu Colony beach house. Although your neighbors are probably movie stars.

The home also boasts an infrared sauna, steam room, gym and pizza oven. It has three parking spots and a collar operated doggie door. If you like what you see, you can rent this oceanview masterpiece for $55,000 a month, long term ($100,000 a month short term). And if you really like it, why not buy it? Listed by .
